Remove FunMoods browser extension toolbar and search redirector

FunMoods toolbar gives no or little satisfaction to its users, but a profound desire to get rid of FunMoods browser extension is in place.
The browser add-on was originally associated with Internet Explorer only. Even though a victim uninstall the toolbar through Control Panel and changing browser settings, the problem persists until ultimate treatment is applied.
Furthermore, the issue had been mistakenly identified to target only Internet Explorer users as other browsers have proved to be equally unprotected and are subjected to the same intrusions.
The toolbar is but a part of the problem as occasional but inevitable redirects in the course of browser search leading to the toolbar related website burden users even more.
Removal of FunMoods is available with free scanner to be downloaded and installed here. The remover will root out the toolbar by exterminating every object related to its installation as well as related redirects.

 Rename the remover to "explorer.exe" or try to install from Safe Mode if virus blocks download\installation

Thank you for the info about removing this crap - I have been trying to find and remove this nightmare for a few days - got malwarebytes but there are still trojans hiding everywhere - I will probably have to build a computer and donate this one - its pretty new.
Anyway I just wanted to say thank you and I agree, Microsoft is crap and they are in bed with the government - Gates makes obnoxious speeches about eugenics (on YouTube) - why does he think he should have a damn thing to say about who lives and who dies? These screwball people are really nuts - consumers should unite, stop buying things to show our power, vote everyone out of office or we are cooked. We need a leader! You are elected, Anonymous. I had same problem. Even after removing this application by uninstalling it from the uninstall programs then removing it from the 'add ons' the search engine was still funmoods. Assuming people are using firefox, go to 'Tools' then 'Options'. Then go to the 'homepage' area and select the restore to default.

Thanks a lot stuntz0rZ...it worked! :))

what if u use adobe

Anonymous said...

I just did this. I think I have IE7? I'm not a techie.
I went to "Tools"
Then "Manage add ons"
"Search Providers"
Change the Default to the provider you prefer.
Click on Funmoods and then you will be able to delete it.
If you don't set another default first, it will not highlight the button to disable.

How do i remove funmodes on Google Chrome ??. I unistalled and the bar still is on the internet page :@

To fix Funmoods problem on Google Chrome for Windows 7, first go to the google wrench (customize and Google Chrome), then go to Setttigs, Change the Homepage to http://www.google.com/, make sure that on the "On Startup " the "Open the home page is checked". Make sure also that Google is i set as the delault "Search" engine and the "Default" browser.

To fix Mozilla Firefox , First go to Tools, then go to Start Browsing, open "Options", then go to Homepage and hit Restore Default or" Mozilla Firefox Start Page". Make sure also that When Firefox Starts it will show "Show My Home Page". The procedure would also be the same if you have Windows XP

I hope this helps and perhaps.

Change your default browser. I search with Bing. Funmoods somehow became my default browser. I changed my default browser, and my computer stopped acting funny. It also worked fast again.

Firefox Fix
I tried lots of stuff, but what worked was:
(1) Go to Tools add-ons then choose extensions and remove

(2) Go to Windows Control Panel and choose Uninstall a Program and then uninstall Funmoods and restart Firefox

(3) Funmoods though is still the default Home page so go to Tools, Options, General and then paste in your favourite (NON FUNMOODS) url. Restart Firefox - you should be fixed.

to remove as your browser on the top right... click on the dropdown in the browser> manage search engines. in there you will find one called "search" with a magnifying glass icon, click on that, select "remove" and "ok." if you've done that, restored FF to it's original settings and removed it from your extensions, it is truly gone.

Anonymous said...

Thank you SOOO much!! Your download and uninstall was 100% perfect! Before I used your software, I tried disabling, deleting etc...from my extensions but still had the funmood search window and it kept opening as a homepage. You have made me a very happy lady and it was done with VERY simple ease!!

I have tried everything suggested here and a few things suggested by other tech geeks, and nothing works.. Funmoods has been removed from search engine option management,from control panel/programs,from start-up, from Firefox add-ons, from Firefox extensions..I've run Malware, Spyware, spybot, autologics, and a host of other scanners...it can't be found, yet when I go to google on firefox, funmoods hijacks the results (and their results are sub-ferior!) How do I get rid of this for good??

I found this work for chrome:

1. Go to the wrench icon at the top right corner.
2. Click "extensions" and disable then delete
3. Next, click on "settings"
4. Find "manage search engines" - here you have the options to select a default search engine (google). You also have the option to delete funmoods which in my opinion is anything but fun.

Good luck!

If you're using Chrome it's very east to remove Funmoods and you don't need the "uninstaller". Simply go to the Customize wrench, then Tools, and Extensions. Funmoods will be right there as an option. You can click the trash can and delete it for good!

FINALLY got rid of this pain in the butt thing. This piggyback on a download AFTER I said no to it. NOT COOL.

Chrome...click on the little wrench logo top right corner.
Then click on tools.
Then click on extensions.
You will see that annoying little thing pop up on the list.
Click remove - the trashcan
and GOOD RIDDENS!!!

I have tried all of these suggestions it is still my search engine. I cannot find it anywhere in my computer except in the internet settings under add ons. It is disabled but it is still working.

I was plagued by funmoods for days until I did all the things in safe mode as the devil cannot replicate itself in safe mode while you are deleting it.

In Windows Vista, restart in Safe Mode; then:

System Properties;
Advanced;
Performance Options;
Turn on the DEP {Data Execution Prevention).

Internet Properties;
Settings;
uncheck Enable 3rd Party Extensions

I also unchecked "allow remote assistance" If I ever need that, the helpline person can tell me how to reset it!

I did all of these while trailing through the system stuff in safe mode and deleting funmoods wherever I found it. I don't know which one worked, or if all were required. All I know is I am now funmoods free. It was added to my system when downloading a free video conversion software.

****DEFINITIVE REMOVAL ******
i had problems with funmoods for a week trying to uninstall it in google chrome, firefox, and internet explorer....FACT, it keeps coming back because it alters registry values...no amount of messing about with add ons, extensions etc will work....
the simplest thing to do is install MALWAREBYTES free malware software (do a search, not hard to find)
then close your internet connection. run it. it will find about 10 funmoods malware registry values etc....delete them all....just for good measure reinstall google chrome or whatever browser you were using......JOB DONE....if anyone knows where funmoods works from do us all a big favour and send them a lot of complaints in various stinky, slimy forms....

You can remove FunMoods (not so fun, really) in Chrome by going to the "wrench", choosing Settings, choosing Manage search engines, and then finding FunMoods and deleting it there. This worked for me after uninstalling a number of downloaded programs to which it might have been attributed (including a pdf viewer).

Good luck.

No idea where mine came from. Using IE9 at moment and have followed all instructions mentioned for removal, without success. Am now downloading Stopzilla as mentioned in the OP to see if that works. Sometimes use Chrome but haven't checked there yet.
